This site is dedicated to preserving the friendships and memorable
experiences of the people of a very unique company
- General American Life Insurance Company - which began
operation in 1933 during the Great Depression.
The company began when New York investors took over the bankrupt
Missouri State Life Insurance Company. In addition to the challenge of
starting a business during the Depression, the founders had to address
the practice of corrupt politicians wanting a payoff. The entrepreneurs´
persistence paid off, though, and the company grew very rapidly during
the 1960s, attracting agents from all over the United States.
The company has insured many large corporations as well as small
businesses, and is active in community affairs.

The lil' General says, "Keep smiling!"

A decade later, when conversations turn to the insurance industry, we
very often receive favorable compliments from policyholders, as to the
level and value of services provided by our unique family
at General American Life Insurance Company.
During those years the many friendships and memorable experiences had
an everlasting affect on the lives of the GenAm family and our friends.
The company ceased operating under the name of General American
Life Insurance Company on January 6th, 2000 when another New York
investor, Metlife, bought the provider and took over its operations.
