You will need to bring several clear 5 x 7 or larger photographs showing views of the subject ( minimum of front, side and ¾ front views).

| Elma Carlson 4AB | Beginning Chip carving: This Monday and Tuesday class will present not only basic cuts but also a through overview of chip carving from the beginning of a project to the finishing. Instructor will furnish blanks, patterns rubber cement, scissors and beginning kit (sand paper, tracing paper, burnisher, eraser and practice board). Cost of class is $75.00. | Lee Eisenschenk 7ABC | This three day class, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will carve a Canada Goose or a 1/2 Size wood duck decoy out of Butternut; patterns will provided and glass eyes, if time permits the student may stain and finish the project. Stain and finish will be provided . Cost of class is $90.00. Cost of blank and materials will be $20.00 Instructor will provide patterns and reference material related to the subject, stain, finish and eyes for the decoys. A wide variety of subject matter will be available from architectural ( i.e. barns, cabins, and watermills) to animal ( i.e. Cougars, bears, elk, and wolves). Cost of this class is $115. No drawing is required, a 9” X 12”, 11” X 14”, or 12” X 16” board will be available as well as ovals and basswood with the bark. Prices will vary from $27— $35. Students should have #3 chisels of all sizes ( 1/4” to 1 1/2”), Skews, a #1 3/4” flat chisel, V tools and veiners. | Bob Gorczyca 9A, 9C or 9E | This one day Intro to carving class held on Monday, Wednesday or Friday will cover safety, tool use, types of wood, basic cuts, cutout layout, and reading wood grains. Students will complete a project during class. Cost of class is $30.00. The instructor will furnish wood, cutouts, and have some tools that student may use. The student should bring: 1. bench knife (a xacto knife with #11 blade is also OK). 2. small U gouge 3. small V tool. | Fernando Gutierrez 10A-10F | Releif carving on mesquite, inlay work, bone, and antler carving. Shell, egg and stone carving. Cost of class is $70.00 per day if you furnish your own equipment; $100.00 if you use the instructors equipment. Sign-up for one or multiple days. Instructor will provide 1/16” shank bits, dust collector, mask. Student tools needed: Dremel or foredom tool. This class is a power carving class. | |||
| Don Hartt 11A-11F | The Fancy Walking cane Class will be from 1 to 6 days depending on the student. The cost of the class will be $30.00 per day plus cost of cane blank of $75.00. I will have blanks with different patterns for the student to pick from. I will be bringing extra cane blanks available for anyone who would like one. Once friend and relatives see your completed cane they will want you to make them one. They do make great gifts that can be enjoyed for years to come. | Hoyt Hutchinson 12ABC | Western themed Hiking Staffs. During this three day class Hoyt will teach Indian Heads, Mountain Man heads, inlayed crushed Turquoise, different leaves, vines, flowers, plus animal heads. Cost of this class is $75.00. Instructor will furnish, hiking staff, turquoise, paint and finish. Student should have knife, assorted gouges, power tools if you have; power tools require the use of a dust collector with them. | |||

| Gen Kreyling 14A, 14B, 14C, 14D, 14E or 14F | Pyrography: Skill level:B-I-A. Class cost $30.00 per day. Take any combination of 1—6 days of Pyrography ( wood burning ). Beginning projects will require at least one day while more advanced projects can be completed with additional days. Beginners are welcome any day or can come back for more on a daily basis. Beginners will learn the basic techniques of wood burning with emphasis on why the different techniques work. More advanced students can choose a project, bring a pattern of their own, or make a pattern from a book on my copier and work on it for 1 day or throughout the week. Project price range from $1.00—$20.00. If you have a specific project that you would like to do, please bring it with you. Tools required: wood burner ( will have my preferred burners and pens for sale), graphite paper, red ink pen, clear ruler, pencil, and eraser. A light is helpful. Instructor will provide beginning board and project. Burners, pens, graphite paper and red ink pens will be available for sale. | |||

Then carve a name sign for your home or RV. Techniques learned can also be applied to free form chip carving on other projects. Material Cost—$12.00. Tools needed: Chip carving knife and pencil. | Mart Lind 16ABC | Learn to carve a realistic, powerful face . Carve an Indian, a trapper, old cowboy or spirit face that you can really be proud of. Emphasis will be given to expression and presentation. Most students will complete their project; so finish and waxing materials are included. Cost of this three day class, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be $110.00 Wood and ruff-outs range from $15.00 - $65.00. Bring your creativity and prepare for fun. The instructor will furnish all finishing materials– paints, stains, and waxes. The instructor will have some tools available for your use as necessary. Student carving Simple Joy or the pirate should have a variety of palm tools and knives.. Cost of this Thursday, Friday and Saturday class will be $110.00. Simple Joy ruff-out will be $35.00 or you may bring a different rough out if you wish to carve something other then class project. | Donna Menke 18DE | Carve a cute Dolphin or Orca. During this two day class on Thursday and Friday you will carve this dolphin in basswood and paint him, or in butternut for a clear finish. You may also choose to make a painted Orca if you prefer. Donna will guide you as you carve, assemble and finish this project. Student should bring sharp knife, palm gouges, woodburner, and light if you have one.. Instructor will furnish booklet, blank and paints. Cost of class is $65.00. | |||
| Donna Menke 18F | Feather pin/magnet painted or hardwood. During this Friday one day class choose from a large selection of colorful hardwoods or carve your pin in basswood and paint it to look like a blue jay feather. These feathers are not too difficult, but learning some tricks will make it even easier. Learn Donna’s woodburning and painting techniques to make your carvings better.. Cost of class is $25.00, instructor will furnish blank, paints and instruction sheet. Student should bring sharp knife, palm gouges, woodburner and light if you have one. | |||

| Charley Phillips 20A, 20B, 20C, 20D, 20E,or 20F | Carving Flower Pins and more. Charley returns to the Rally. She has been carving for 15 years and written for Wood Carving Illustrated. She has become known for her relief flower carving. Students can select a Wild Rose, Daisy, Pansy or Sunflower pin in each one day class. Cost of this class is $35.00 per day and includes one flower blank. You have the option of carving one of the more difficult projects; these project will require more then one day and the purchase of the blank. The instructor will furnish one flower pin per class. Students need the following: a sharp knife, a 30 degree V tool (16/6). | |||

| Adair and Patty Rucker 23ABCD | Carve and paint a Santa: Adair will teach carving a Santa from Monday to lunch on Wednesday. Student will select one Santa from five $16.00 rough out. Wednesday afternoon , Patty will teach painting techniques while Adair prepares the carved Santas for painting on Thursday. Thursday, Patty will direct students in painting their Santa. | Steve Schoolar 25F | The art of block printing: The ancient art of carving a design or picture on a block, putting ink on the block and printing it on paper and cloth. Student will be able finish and print two blocks during the class. | MILTON SMITH 26AB or 26CD | Bark carving in the round: In this two day class Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday you will be carving into 2 pieces of cotton wood bark joined together with paper between the pieces; ready to carve. A completely new style. The cost of either two day class is $60.00, no materials are include in this $60.00 fee. Supplies available from the instructor: Bark blanks for sale $10.00—$15.00 Tools required: A multi plug-in, carving knives, gouges, chisels, super glue (thin and thick), lamp for additional lighting. | Elaine and Fred Stenman 27ABC or 27DEF | LOW RELIEF WOODCARVING: Students will learn the techniques developed by Elaine and Fred, which combine low relief carving with details that are woodbumed. The carvings are painted with acrylics and stained with oil paint. Tool techniques for full sized gouges and wood burning tools along with elements of design will be taught as students execute first a small (6"x9") practice piece which is just woodbumed and painted (no carving). This will be followed by the main project piece (approx. 9" wide x15" to 28" long) which has the main design elements relief carved and woodbumed details. Students may select from the Stenmans' original designs including an old barn or cabin with a wooded setting and wildlife details. The projects will be executed in basswood with the bark remaining on the edges to create a natural frame. The basswood, paints and brushes are provided. The instructors have some woodbumers for student use. LOW RELIEF CARVING SUGGESTED TOOL LIST 1.Padded 22"-24" Stool (Especially for those with back problems). 2. #3 -35 mm Swiss Made. The Flexcut #220799 1 'l4" or a Stubai #4/35 may be substituted for this gouge. 3. #3 sweep Swiss Made (or other) gouges in various sizes from 10-20mm. If you use Stubei or other brands, you will fmd that you may require a # 4 sweep, as most brands have less sweep than the Swiss made. 4. A thin bladed bench /detail knife. 5. Various other size gouges- palm or full size that you may have. 6. Clamp on light. ( Instructors will bring some lights) 7. A good woodbuming tool. Such as a Detailer, Detailmaster or Colwood Note: Instructors will bring some large #3 gouges and woodbumers for use in class. | Herb Teesdale 28A, 28B, 28C, 28D, 28E or 28F | Herb will teach all days on a per day basis, most projects will take about three (3) days, some of the larger projects will require 4 days. Offering of animals will include; Elk, Lion, Bighorn Ram, Grizzly and Wolf. Offering of caricatures will include Bass fiddler, washtub player, Santas, guitar player and baseball player. Cost per class day will be $35.00 per day, blanks will be available for purchase and will vary in price. Paints and brushes will be furnished byt the instructor. Instructor will have for sale some good quality kolinsky red sable brushes, and cutouts. | Jim Thalacker 29E or 29F | This one day class on either Friday or Saturday will offer acrylic and oil painting techniques including; washes, wet blending, dry brushing, feather flicking and tapping in feather ends. The understanding of feather colors and how to apply them, color values and intensity. Cost of class is $30.00, material cost is $10.00. Instructor will furnish paint, glass palette plate, paper towels, wash cup, resin casting containing feather groups, beak, bills, quills and tag board. Instructor will also have for sale some good quality Kolinsky red sable brushes and extra casted resin boards. Student should bring Hair dryer, light, extension cord, metal palette knife, good teklon liner brush 00, 0/1 or 0/2, a good red sable cats tongue (Filbert) size 2, 4, 6, and rounds size 2, 4,and 6. | Jim Trumpy 30ABCD | This will be a 4 day Bird class for all skill levels.. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday student will be power carving a Carolina Wren. The class will paint the carving on Thursday. Cost of this class is $120.00 which includes the blank, eyes, paint and reference materials. Student must bring basic power tools, wood burner, paint supplies and DUST COLLECTOR. | |||
| Jim Trumpy 30EF | This 2 –day Habitat Class Friday and Saturday will focus on mounting the Carolina Wren. Also open to anyone wanting to work on mounting fish, animals, or birds. Students will be working with wood, brass, copper, paper, and epoxies. Cost of class is $60.00 and will include the supplies needed. Students should bring basic power tools, wood burner, knives, small torch, tin snipes, and holding devices. | |||
| Sam Wilson 31C, 31D or 31E | 1” X 1” X 5” in caricature- cost of this class is $20.00 per day. Class is one day class offered on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Caricatures in a block of wood that is 1" X 1" x 5". Instructor will furnish supplies. Student needs a knife, palm tools and cut resistant glove. | |||
