Club News
With the fall show just behind us, the officers and directors are starting to make plans for next year. There are several decisions that the club will have to make. Next year the fee for the Art Center is going to be almost double what we were charged this year. To make the show self sustaining, we would have to cut the show to just one day or increase table fees to cover the Art Center increase (~$15/table increase). The Board is also looking at other options, including a new location or combining it with other shows/fairs in the area. Please let the Board know how you feel about the show and what you would like to do next year.
The Art Center has requested that your phone number be included on the plaque in the display case. They have had inquiries about buying items in the show case and need to know how to contact the owner. If you have a price in mind for any of the articles that you display, then make up a card and place it with your display.
The nominating committee has a slate of officers and new board members for 2006. The slate includes: Rich Weitzman, President; Ray Plodzien, VP; Charlotte Cross, Secretary; Bob Craven, Treas; and Directors Corky Breece, Bill Kuhn, and Chris Klinckhardt. Nominations from the floor will also be accepted. Please step forward if you would like to serve. The officers have graciously accepted another term but would be glad to let other members serve. Thanks to those directors that just completed their term: Jim Leifeld, Bill Maguire, and Wilbert Brewton.
Our annual Christmas Ball will be on December 7th. The club will provide the meat, cheese, bread, and drink. Each member is asked to bring a dish to share. Members are encouraged to bring their spouses, significant other, and children. An ornament exchange will be held during the ball. If you want to participate bring an item that you have carved, turned, cutout, burned..... Contact the editor if you have any questions.
The club approved a contribution on $100 to the Glen Remington Christmas dinner fund. The club has supported this organization and event for several years. Fortunately our budget allowed us to participate again this year.
CARVING PROJECTS:
Wilbert
assures us that he is working on the drawings for the rough outs and they should
be ready before the end of the year.
Rough outs will be made and club members can select their favorites to carve and
paint.
Can you recognize a club member by their hands?

Show and Tell

NAME TAG: Making a name tag and wearing it at the meetings has been a club rule for years. And a new enforcer is in town! Watch out for this man. His name is Russ Sears and if you don't have your name tag on at the meeting, he'll be collecting twenty five cents from you.
Web Site: The web site is going to be updated with new pictures and write ups for club members. Please send me electronic pictures of your work and a brief write up on yourself. I can also scan hard copies if you have printed pictures that you would like to use.
Belleville Show: The Belleville show is November 5th and 6th. See President Rich Weitzman if you would like to save a dollar by buying your ticket early.
Kirkwood Show: The Kirkwood show is November 26th and 27th at the Kirkwood Community Center; 111 S. Geyer Road. Call 314.481.3419 for more information.
When you have an item for show and tell, please get my attention before you leave (presuming that I remember to bring the camera).
